Some points need you pay attention t
Tech Tips for Brake pads replacement
01
Pressurize the brake hose with a suitable tool, open the bleeder and remove the pads.
02
Check the brake caliper: sliding piston, sliding pins and rubber gasket, in case of locking, carefully remove them using specific tools, analyze the components and, if there is any irregularity, change them, and, before assembling , lubricate them.
03
Do not install new inserts on compromised disks, that is, out of measure, warped, mirrored and blued or without rectifying them, if rectified, pay attention to the minimum thickness specified by the manufacturer.
04
Check the brake caliper: sliding piston, sliding pins and rubber gasket, in case of locking, carefully remove them using specific tools, analyze the components and, if there is any irregularity, change them, and, before assembling , lubricate them.
05
When replacing the discs, never use petroleum derivatives to clean them, use only soap and water to remove the protective layer, then use compressed air.
06
Carry out a thorough analysis of the entire brake system: flexible, master cylinder, wheel cylinder, water-vacuum, equalizer valve, etc.
07
Check the brake fluid level, if it is below the level indicated on the reservoir, change it. IMPORTANT: REPLACE THE FLUID EVERY 10,000km OR 12 MONTHS, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST, ALWAYS USING THE FLUID RECOMMENDED BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER, IN NO EVENT MIX DIFFERENT FLUIDS DOT 3 - DOT 4 - DOT 5 ETC.
08
Install the new pads by pushing back the brake caliper cylinder with the bleeder open, then close the bleeder.
09
Lightly depress the brake pedal several times, up to half full travel. Do this procedure until you feel the stiffening of the pedal.
10
System bleed: apply the brake pedal about 4 times to 3/4 of the pedal travel, open the bleeder and see through the glass for air bubbles. Repeat this procedure until the air bubbles are completely eliminated, close the bleeder. Repeat the procedure on all wheels.
11
After the brake pads are completely installed, check that the vehicle's wheels turn freely.
12
Instruct the vehicle owner to install the brake pads as described. In the first 200km, after changing the brake pads, brake the vehicle moderately and carefully, remembering that the set, disc and pad, is in the laying phase, after the brake pads have been installed, the system will be responding normally. This procedure does not eliminate the braking efficiency, but rather allows the perfect settlement of the set, preventing future problems with noise.
